Ghanaian Twitter influencer and critic, Bongo Ideas, has sparked outrage on social media following his comments on the marriage of popular Ghanaian actor, Harold Amenyah. In a post shared on Twitter, Bongo Ideas made a snide remark about the actor’s choice of partner.
“I expected the handsome Harold Amenyah to have better taste than this, this. Maybe she’s rich. Because even with the makeup, her looks do not match up with his in the least. Offside. Maybe this is another classic case of ‘love is blind’ because, in terms of aesthetics, he made a poor choice. His crushes must be disappointed right now,” Bongo Ideas tweeted.
The comments have been met with widespread condemnation from social media users, with many accusing the influencer of promoting toxic masculinity and shallow values.
In response to the criticism, Harold Amenyah took to his official Instagram account to share two beautiful photos of himself and his wife. One of the photos shows the actor putting a ring on his wife’s finger, a moment that was captured during their wedding ceremony.
In his post, the actor quoted a Bible verse from Ecclesiastes 3:11 which reads, “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” He then added two stickers; one padlock and the other a ring.
Harold Amenyah’s response has been praised by many social media users, with some commending him for his maturity and grace in the face of criticism. The actor’s fans have also flooded his comments with congratulatory messages and well wishes for his marriage.
This incident highlights the need for social media users to be more mindful of their words and actions online. Comments that promote hate, discrimination, and shallow values have no place in our society and must be condemned in the strongest terms possible. We must all strive to promote kindness, empathy, and respect for others, both online and offline.
